Awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the US CMA qualification is recognized and respected worldwide. The IMA operates in 150 countries and oversees academic research and CMA exams.

The US CMA syllabus is divided into two parts. To qualify as a US CMA you will have to clear exam for Part 1 and Part 2. The Exam is a computerized paper with two levels:
100 MCQs to be solved in 3 hours where you are required to achieve a minimum score of 50% to reach Level 2. Since the exam is computerized, the computer system automatically tabulates your score. If the score crosses 50%, you are automatically inducted to Level 2 of the exam. If not, the exam ends then and there signifying an unsuccessful attempt.
You enter level 2 after achieving a minimum score of 50% on the MCQ level. Level 2 comprises of 2 descriptive questions referred to as the Essay section. These descriptive questions are generally in the form of an immersive case study where the same concepts of the MCQ level are tested. However, this level requires the candidate to display depth in conceptual understanding by providing elaborate responses to the case at hand.
A weighted average score is calculated for the MCQ and Essay sections. The MCQs hold 75% weightage while the Essays hold 25%. The result to the examination is declared after 45 days of you appearing for the exam. The total weightage of the exam is 500 marks with 360 being the passing threshold.
Clearing Level 1 and entering into Level 2 is not assurance of passing, however if you are unable to break into Level 2 – it signifies immediate failure.

Here the US CMA qualification adds value to your earning potential in two ways-
For freshers who are generally students who have completed their US CMA along with their graduation, the starting salary on completion is between 35000 per month (INR 4,20,000 per annum ) to 45000 per month (INR 5,40,000 per annum).
For professionals with experience, the US CMA qualification can add anywhere from 15% to 50% to their existing pay package. We have helped place US CMA qualified professionals with work experience in roles with packages of up to 12,00,000 per annum.
The above stated numbers are as per the Indian job market. There is a 20% to 35% increase in the amount of salary in case the placements are effected in regions like the Gulf , Europe and Canada.
